Before and after the race day excitement, it is worth slowing down for a moment to step into one of the most important spots on Warsaw’s cultural map. Located at 3 Małachowskiego Square, Zachęta showcases the most fascinating phenomena in 20th and 21st century art. Its beautiful, over a century old interiors display the works of outstanding Polish and international artists. Do you love art? Are you looking for a relaxing weekend attraction?
Currently, you can explore three individual exhibitions by truly exceptional female artists at Zachęta:
- Barbara Kasten. Post-Abstraction is the first exhibition of this American artist’s work of such scale in this part of Europe. It also marks her return to the very place that helped shape her artistic language years ago. This comprehensive presentation of one hundred works across various media, including photography, sculpture, and installation, is perfectly complemented by the artist’s unique intervention in the gallery’s staircase space.
- The exhibition of Krystyna Wojtyna-Drouet, who celebrated her one hundredth birthday this January, presents the achievements of one of the key representatives of the Polish school of textile art, spanning over seventy years. “Krystyna Wojtyna-Drouet. I Do Not Exist for Myself” serves as an invitation to the world of weaving, where the creative process transforms into an almost meditative experience.
- Finally, Karolina Wiktor. Cartography of Motherhood is an interdisciplinary project exploring the experience of motherhood among people with disabilities, as well as the crucial issues of visibility for the neurologically impaired.
Whether you are celebrating your brand new personal best or simply want to unwind and rest your legs after the run, make sure to drop by Zachęta!
